Called, Homeless Update:

http://princetoninfo.com/index.php?option=com_us1more&Itemid=6&key=11-30-11btl

I met Miss H.  four years ago. She lives outside at a location I will not disclose. She lives there from spring until winter, for the past 20 years she has lived outside. She is around 68 years old.  She is mildly Schizophrenic. She will not take medication, period. Her family wants nothing to do with her. Please know about Schizophrenic people before you say what she should do or anything for that matter. This is the facts, she is homeless and frankly better off on the streets of Princeton, NJ than Trenton, NJ where the junkies and people who would harm her at the shelters there. The only other place they would put her is a mental institution. Have any of you been there or saw one???? We are working with what works for her, not forcing our will on her because that will not work.

I have cared for her along with a husband and wife and another single women like myself. I have a failed fusion in my neck  from a  2008 car accident,  being in pain now since 2007 has been a night mare for me and helping Miss H. takes me out of my self.  If I can do this along with all the other things I have to do, you can help too. I am asking people to do a some fund-raising for me or contribute to my fund raiser on face book or send a check to the Post Box mentioned on the video and in the Route 1 News article.

The women who has been paying for Miss H. (my little homeless lady) will not be paying for her hotels anymore in the coming winters. I can’t blame her she has done a lot for 5 years or more, it looks like it is my turn now and my hopes your as well.  Please set up a collection box in your office you can copy and paste her picture from here or ask me for a copy.  She feels safe in hotels as long as there is an out side entrance and it is near Princeton, NJ, she feels safe here.

I need to raise at least $3,000.00 by December. That would be rent for December Thru  April/May. The hotel she did stay in was flooded so, I have to start looking now. I am in hopes that they have every thing up and running so she can go back there. I will pay what ever is not donated. I will not have her outside in the bitter cold. Please, I need all of your help. Miss H. worked hard for many, many years and was not always ill.  She deserves help, love, compassion and kindness as we all do. Please help me to help her!

Thank you, Suzanne Newman

It wasn’t very long ago that I thought becoming a vegan was tree hugging, extremists. That’s all changed, I am almost a complete vegan except for fish and that is for now. I think I will give up eating fish at some point. There will be people again I say, what does this have to do with massage therapy. My massage practice is about letting people know all information that can improve their health, their attitude and our planet.

I have some very important books that I so very strongly suggest everyone reads. These books can be bought used on eBay or at your local bookstore. The first is, The Face On Your Plate, The Truth About Food, The Pig Who Sang To The Moon, The Emotional World Of Farm Animals and When Elephants Weep, The Emotional Lives Of Animals. All these books are written by Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson. I promise you if you read these books it will be life altering for you. I honestly believe we must read these books!

The treatment of animals is beyond anything I could imagine. It is barbaric, it is inhumane and it is not necessary whatsoever. The consumption of meat, pork and poultry will destroy this planet alone, if we keep up what we’re doing. If you turn a blind eye to this you are responsible for the children that will die, deadly pandemics and illnesses that can be prevented by simply reading these books. It also about taking action and responsibility for your family and it’s as simple as that. You can read this and ignore it, or you can read this and make a difference, starting now.
It is wonderful to know that by reading three books that can be life altering and it will cost you maybe $15 for all three books on eBay.

It is time for all of us to wake up, wake up! The future generations as well as our own are at risk right now. If you can’t believe the extreme immediacy that we must change the treatment of farm animals, you will be shocked when you read The Face On Your Plate. The Truth About Food. How this change comes about is being intelligent, putting your foot down and changing. Fast food has to be eliminated if you can read this page then you have enough intelligence to never eat at McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s or what ever. I never realized how very easy it is to eliminate meat of all kinds from my diet, not only will my health be better, what is most important to me is the life of animals and how they are treated on this planet.

I was absolutely shocked to find out all the companies that abuse, torture, inhumanely kill testing products that most of you use every day. It’s hard to believe isn’t it? Animals are tortured by the companies I list below.

COMPANIES THAT DO TEST ON ANIMALS.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are these companies included on the ‘Do Test’ list?
The following companies manufacture products that ARE tested on animals. Those marked with a ? are currently observing a moratorium (i.e., current suspension of) on animal testing. Please encourage them to announce a permanent ban. Listed in parentheses are examples of products manufactured by either the company listed or, if applicable, its parent company. For a complete listing of products manufactured by a company on this list, please visit the company’s Web site or contact the company directly for more information. Companies on this list may manufacture individual lines of products without animal testing (e.g., Clairol claims that its Herbal Essences line is not animal-tested). They have not, however, eliminated animal testing from their entire line of cosmetics and household products.

Similarly, companies on this list may make some products, such as pharmaceuticals, that are required by law to be tested on animals. However, the reason for these companies’ inclusion on the list is not the animal testing that they conduct that is required by law,
but rather the animal testing (of personal-care and household products) that is not
required by law.

What can be done about animal tests required by law?
Although animal testing of pharmaceuticals and certain chemicals is still mandated by law, the arguments against using animals in cosmetics testing are still valid when applied to the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. These industries are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency, respectively, and it is the responsibility of the companies that kill animals in order to bring their products to market to convince the regulatory agencies that there is a better way to determine product safety. PETA is actively working on this front by funding the development and validation of non-animal test methods and providing input through our involvement on government advisory committees at both the national and international levels. Companies often resist progress and, instead of using human-relevant non-animal tests, choose to use animal tests because their results can be manipulated. Let companies know how you feel about this.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous.

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that others

will not feel insecure around you.

We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It isn’t just some of us, it is everyone.

and as we let our own light shine,

we unconsciously give others permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically

liberates others.

Food & Diet

Glycemic Index

How quickly do foods raise your blood sugar?

The glycemic index measures how fast food is likely to raise your blood sugar.  For example, if your blood sugar is low and continuing to drop during exercise, you would prefer to eat a carb that will raise your blood sugar quickly. On the other hand, if you would like to keep your blood sugar from dropping during a few hours of mild activity, you may prefer to eat a carb that has a lower glycemic index and longer action time. If your blood sugar tends to spike after breakfast, you may want to select a cereal that has a lower glycemic index.

The numbers below give that food’s glycemic index based on glucose, which is one of the fastest carbohydrates available. Glucose is given an arbitrary value of 100 and other carbs are given a number relative to glucose. Faster carbs (higher numbers) are great for raising low blood sugars and for covering brief periods of intense exercise. Slower carbs (lower numbers) are helpful for preventing overnight drops in the blood sugar and for long periods of exercise.

Note that these numbers come from research labs, and often from more than one study. These numbers will be close but may not be identical to other glycemic index lists. The impact a food will have on the blood sugar depends on many other factors such as ripeness, cooking time, fiber and fat content, time of day, blood insulin levels, and recent activity. Use the Glycemic Index as just one of the many tools you have available to improve your control.

http://www.sheilatrecartin.com

Sheila Trecartin I have been meaning to write this somewhat short story for a wonderful woman who helped me more than I can put into words. Sheila was my angel several years ago and still is. It would try to make this story short and sweet even though it was not short and parts were not sweet at all.

In June of 2008 I received a call from a neighbor on one of the hottest days in June about a mother cat bringing her two kittens across a busy highway into our apartment complex to drink the water that I just by chance set outside the night before for some strange reason. I intuitively knew something was wrong. I went out in the backyard of the complex and walked across the busy road to the development to the sparsely wooded area by the homes to try to find this mother cat and her kittens…

I had no idea where the cat and kittens could possibly be. I walked through the woods and with the gift that I have of intuitiveness I found her with the kittens in some ones back yard. . The next thought was what am I going to do? I knew she was feral and I knew these kittens would not survive it through the summer. I also knew that if Gray was not caught she would continue breeding and not only that she would probably die too.

I was never the person to walk away from injustice or to ever give up. Animals have always been the greatest love of mine since I was a little girl. This situation with Gray and her five kittens was something I could not turn my back on. I knew some people in my community that focused mainly on cats as far as rescuing neutering and spanning, finding homes for kittens and re-releasing the adult cats. I am very torn about the trap, neuter and release way of thinking. The reason being is I know that feral cats is a generic name for a cat that has been abandoned, born in the wild from an abandoned cat and frightened to death. Their intelligence, ability to adapt is amazing to me and I will tell you why as I go along with Gray’s story.

So from June 3, 2008 to approximately July 8th my rescue began and ended. Each morning I would set the trap and I would check it three times a day and then I would lock it open during the evenings because, I did not want to kittens hurting themselves by spending too many hours frantically trying to get out of the cage for hours overnight. I fed Gray and the kittens and made sure they had water twice a day. I also made sure Gray had colostrum because she was pretty run down and underfed and had to keep her strength up to be able to recuperate from nursing the kittens. I think that they were still nursing a bit from her and had just begun eating food when I had found them.

It was upsetting, nerve-racking and exhausting each and every day. I was frightened to death because she had moved the kittens I had no idea where she could have taken them. Then my special little gift kicked in and intuitively told me to walk in a certain direction through another area of woods. I saw in my mind was an old run down deck with steps, the kittens and gray with them. I continued to walk and followed my instincts and I still get chills as I write this as I stepped out of the woods there in front of my eyes was that beat up old deck with the steps, five kittens and there dark gray, mother cat. That was the day I named her “Gray”. What an incredible mother, it was amazing to watch her with them. She always had the kitten close by her. I remember one morning walking into the backyard and there was a bit of a clearing by an old dead, hollow tree, the kittens were playing, This happened on early morning in the morning mist it almost appeared as if they were dancing to the sounds of the birds and the beautiful noises from the woods. I can still picture that moment in my mind and there lie gray very close by watching them.

I would sit where Gray and the kittens where the broken deck was with the holes just big enough for Gray and the kittens to have shelter and protection from the rain. It just so happened that the people who lived there were away for a month, there are no coincidences. Plus jumping further a head after I caught everyone I took a friend to show him where I found and trapped them and the deck had been completely rebuilt which meant the cat and kittens would have lost another home.

I would sit in the yard where they all where and Gray would lay maybe 20 feet away from me always but she came every time I came there and called her. She made sure the kittens where out of sight, I would see them often because I would put their food down and hide on the side of the house and peek around the corner and one by one would come out. There was this deep soul connection between Gray and I that I have not felt with an animal since I found my childhood dog, Sheba, was a pure bred German Shepherd that we thought was born in the woods that became my best friend and never to ever be replaced until now,

I think my main worry was that I so desperately wanted to catch the kittens first but, that Gray may leave and the whole cycle would begin again with more kittens. One by one the kittens were caught and placed in a non-kill shelter where they took finally all the kittens and Gray, made sure they were healthy, neutered and spayed for a fee of $350. That shelter was a disaster but, they did place all six of the kittens but, the way they handled Gray was the most upsetting thing I ever saw in front of my own two eyes, when I brought her in to be check out and neutered. Let’s put it this way I would never go there again unless I was getting an animal out of “SAVE” in Princeton, NJ. They do not know how to handle or take good care of cats at all!!!

It was the last kitten that I was terribly worried about. It was gray and the last kitten that I named Bear left to be caught. I tried and tried to catch the kitten before Gray, but I couldn’t so I trapped Gray, leaving her last kitten alone. I had a hard time sleeping at night. It took about a week to catch her/him. She was very light in weight so, I finally decided to put a small bottle of water only slightly filled on the trip of the trap and that was the answer. That night after I was so exhausted I caught the last kitten. The funny thing is I checked every kitten before I would put them in a small cage with food and all that was needed in my cage that was in the complex basement. It was the only place I could keep them because I have two cats of my own and I didn’t know if the kittens were healthy or not. Anyway I would check every kitten to make sure they weren’t injured. Well, the last kitten, Bear was frightened by the group of people that were with me who couldn’t seem to be quiet and took a chunk out of my finger and three nice gashes in the palm of my right hand. Not a good thing to happen to a massage therapist.

I had decided after Gray had been fixed and had her ear tipped that there was no way I could release her back into those woods. I knew it was going to be difficult taming an adult feral cat that was definitely born in the wild but, the only other option was to have her put to sleep. A friend allowed me to keep Gray at her home in a large Labrador crate until I was able to set up what ended up to be three crates put together where Gray lived in my apartment while I trained her to be able to be integrated into my home. Keep in mind I have two cats of my own. I also live in a one-bedroom apartment. This contraption that I put together was almost like a Matisse painting with my grandmother’s mink fur that I couldn’t part with but, could never wear as a top to the cage. There was a purple yoga mat running down the side where she slept. At the far end a liter pan was set up and then in the middle and carry case with a bed in it and the soft cushion on top.

Day after day I would sit and sing to her and play with a toy I called furry on a stick. I sat as close to the cage as I could when it came to feeding time. This went on for ever it seemed. She would go inside the little cat carry case where she sleep on a comfy bed I made her that was inside the Lab crate that she lived in every time I walked in the room. I would try to get my hand close to her in the carrier to give her a treat and she would hiss telling me that’s to close. I backed off and sat it in front of her. I will never forget the first night I touched her. I always had classical music playing in the room. That one night Julie Andrews came on the radio with the song, ‘Getting to know you”. Well I sang the whole song to her and as I reached my hand in the cage she came out and rubbed up against my hand. Please keep in mind I was touching her with furry stick a lot because she was never touched by human hands before. Well I cried for about 10 minutes as I went down stairs in my friend’s house to tell her what had happened. I have to be honest with you that was the first time I experienced the purest joy ever.

I knew I was going to need help because, I never knew anyone that tamed a two-year-old feral ( A cat born in the wild and never touched by human hands.) It also live in an apartment complex, which is one-bedroom and already have two cats and now also own a pug. The thought came to my mind to try to find an animal communicator. There was no doubt in my mind about animal communicators with my own intuitiveness and psychic abilities there had to be someone out there that could help me. I also I’ve always believed the animals very, very special one of the biggest gifts we have. I began my search of course with goggle and came across Sheila. It’s always important for me to see a picture of a person because I always been exceptional with what I call, that feeling! Well, for me I just had the seashore’s picture and I knew she would help me.

I contacted Sheila then set up an appointment. She asked only for pictures of my two cats and my feral cat ,Gray. There were no other questions about the cats, I just set up an appointment with Sheila. It was great to because I could pay through PayPal.

The day came and I always record sessions that are important to me because having ADHD I forget things very quickly. I asked I could tape the session and that was fine. I don’t think I could ever put into words what an amazing experience that first session was. There was no way that Sheila could have known the things that these animal telling her, after all she was in Canada, I was in New Jersey, we were talking on the phone and animals don’t look right?

The animals explained in detail the surroundings in my apartment. They described their interactions with each other and how they felt about each other. Please understand I only have animals. I live alone and I am very aware about my animals. The information that was being given to me by Sheila from my cats telepathically was profound, exact and truly amazing, in fact I truly believe animals are far, far more intelligent and we are. I felt that way about animals before but, this experience with Sheila made it far more clear to me. The beautiful fact is animals live in the moment, nowhere else but the president! We need to learn this from them!

She suggested Bach flower remedies to be used for the cats and myself. The flower remedies help release issued and trust me they work! In fact I now own every Bach flower remedy there is. I have made up some tinctures for friends and neighbors for their animals and they have told me they worked for them too!

Sheila also did some long-distance healing which is called Reiki. I know this works because I took a course and hopefully will continue. The reason I mention this is I am also in the healing profession and I know a good healer when I meet one. I am about to do for another session with Sheila and I just want to say to all of you that, the little, tipped eared once a feral cat is the most loving, special gift I have ever received.

I would’ve never believed that it was possible to tame a two-year-old feral cat. I wish everyone could experienced what I did with Sheila’s help with my little, sweet, gray mother cat. I do not recommend anyone trying to tame a feral cat unless know a lot about cats and have a lot of time and most important the patience of a saint!

Thank you Sheila, thank you so very much. I am glad that I have met such a gifted healer. I can not thank you for what you did for my little Gray! I know there will come a time when I have to put my animals to sleep. I can only hope I still know you and that they can tell you the things I need to know and you can tell them how much they made my life worth living. I know that’s a long way away though, but I will be talking to you soon to hear what my animals would like me to know about them and myself!

All my love, Suzanne Newman and my Mrs Gray

The answer is..”peace”.

The other day a friend and I were talking and we were discussing all the incredible issues I had been facing the week before. As I laughed and smiled and told my story about all the unbelievably stressful things that occurred by friend sat in amazement and just looked at me wide-eyed and opened mouthed. Finally he asked, “how do you stay so positive and calm in the face of all of that turmoil????” I was a little surprised by his question but didn’t need to think for more than a second. I know that I work hard to consciously stay in peace as often as I can.  So, my answer was simply, “Peace”.

I am hoping this bit of info will help you find that space and stay there too! You see, my personal view (and I don’t expect anyone to trust this blindly but I do hope you listen to it and take from it what resonates with you) is that we live in a world where all is an illusion. I am sure you heard this theory before. I believe that before we come to this world, we select our lessons and also set some markers for ourselves to help guide us along the way. It is easy to get lost on this journey when we forget to use the light within us all that is naturally present all of the time. Instead, we often walk in darkness and fumble around, trying to find our way. Often suffering needlessly. We hit rocks and trees and sometimes walls (all blocks) along our way. It is only when we choose to use our inner light that we can finally see the path that we set more clearly and walk along with a greater understanding of what we are walking in.

If you consciously stay in your light (stay in your truth) you will find that you sit in peace. You will find it much easier to see through the illusions of life and understand the meaning of your lessons, or at the very least, recognize your lessons. When you understand (or see the path clearly) it is so much easier to walk through without fear. Fear you see, is often the number one thing that holds us back from allowing our light to shine, from allowing us to see our path clearly.

When adversity hits, when you are faced with obstacles, when blocks stand in your way, step back and look at them from a distance. Recognize the lesson, understand the learning that needs to occur, move through without fear and you will find that your life becomes more pleasurable. Your anxiety will be lessened and you will not feel the stress you normally do. It is when we do not trust that we are on the “right” path that we stand in fear and miss that peace.

I am not saying this is an easy task. I am simply suggesting you try to remove the illusion glasses and see what truly and honestly exists. The next step is to deal with the issues by walking forward and taking action. Once you do this you will feel empowered. You will feel more courageous and you will find more positive things will come.

So next time you are faced with car problems, speeding ticket, an irritating boss, slow traffic, etc. then stop for a moment, recognize that you are in an illusion, see the truth of the situation and trust there is reason for all that is existing around you and happening to you. Walk through with light and in truth and all will unfold in a positive manner. As you do this you will feel the peace within begin to grow like a new bud in the spring. As you feed your inner peace you will find so much learning, you will find self-worth, you will find empowerment, you will find your light and you will shine brightly and radiate your peace.

It doesn’t stop there…when you radiate in your peace then you spread that to others. If you feel insignificant and powerless then imagine for a moment that just by standing in your truth, being at peace and radiating that peace, you could essentially positively affect every person that you come into contact with in any way during your day.

Next time you are faced with the question…choose PEACE!

Spread your light, spread your truth, spread the peace.

Sheila

What are we doing to play the role in putting a stop to funding chemical companies to kill us in our own home, yard and our animals. Do you use bleach, air fresheners, dryer sheets, toilet bowel shit, not picking up your own dogs shit, not recycling, putting gas in your car during the heat of the day….do you know the chemicals those dryer sheets put in the air and in your body…read up you won’t use them again. It’s cheaper to use baking soda, vinegar, and read the labels if you can’t pronounce it hello! Take the damned money back from the corporations, think for yourself and this planet. I hope the list below is helpful and you use it! We all need to do our part or stop complaining and pointing the finger.

I would like to thank all the people on facebook and friends who have donated money to help my friend, the dear little homeless lady to have a warm place to live in for this winter. They’re where some anonymous folks, my good friends and some people they didn’t even know me on facebook: Kristie L., Cindy and Dan M., Allison M., Donna R., Annie M., Lindy S., Steve G., Jen E., Jacqueline V., Tammy T., and $50 more dollars was raised at my birthday party dance Sunday march 6th.

I will continue fundraising to help raise money to put aside for each winter to come. The lovely lady who wants to remain anonymous who has paid for Carol Lynn to stay in this local hotel for the past five years with money, actually got upset when we got her number and name from the hotel manager where Carolyn is staying. This young lady is an angel and I in return want to help her with her selfless actions to help a 68-year-old, mildly schizophrenic, sweet woman who does not want to take medication. Who are we to judge her for that and who are we to judge her family. I grew up with a mentally ill mother and I know the work it took to heal and to be there for when she was dying. No one can expect everyone’s priorities to be the same. I do wish that people’s priorities little different when it comes to caring for and trying to understand what it’s like to walk in someone else’s shoes.

I think between the lovely lady who is made sure Carol Lynn has had a warm shelter for the past five years, my friend and her husband and myself we can make life a little easier for an elderly sweet lady. My friend and her husband have a large home; Carol Lynn will stay there occasionally with them when it gets unbearably hot out in the summer. She helps do her laundry also. Carol Lynn has been to my apartment several times and I made dinner for her and we watched movies together. She loves my cats especially Tia, my little female Bengal who wins everyone’s heart. Carol Lynn won’t allow us to hug her but she would let Tia sleep on her lap, which truly touched my heart. When I go visit her she always asks about Tia. I have to now hopefully convince her to give my new little adopted pug, Nani a chance. I don’t think she likes dogs, but we will work on it, my fingers are crossed.

It’s a funny thing I don’t know this woman probably as much as I know a lot of you. The strange thing is there is this wonderful energy around her it is almost unexplainable. She holds no material possessions, she watches no TV although she is an avid reader. The books she reads are not about the horrors of this world. Her somewhat toothless smile always brings a sparkle to my eyes. There is this other world about her and sometimes I wonder, well lets just leave it at that I just wonder…

I want to truly believe in my heart that there is still the pureness of a child out there and that people are genuine, kind and loving. I do not have to convince anyone that what I’m doing is good, should be done and that we all should reach out to others. I know that’s what we’re supposed to be doing. I can’t think of any other reason for being here on this planet. If all you do is take, spend, worry, project, want what you don’t have you will always be empty inside. My God all Joy comes from giving something from your heart weather it is a smile, a kind deed, doing for another, doing for yourself, singing a song, dancing, laughing with another, aiding someone that is hurting and some times saving a life, now that to me is the meaning of joy, that makes your heart sing.

Carol Lynn will always have a lot of Angels looking over her and thinking about her and I bet God talks to her or who knows maybe when I am talking to her, maybe it’s really him talking to me! Hummmmmmmm……

It is been a while since I’ve written a health blog. This is somewhat a lot of snippets of information to share that I feel are important for people to know. This is not directly related to massage but my blog is about whole health and that includes a wide variety of variables. These tid-bits of valuable information, I hope you find use for. It is important to keep in mind when eating and taking fish oil supplements, due to the mercury content, which will know is very dangerous. The fish that is still the healthiest fish for us to eat are wild Alaskan salmon, herring, wild shrimp, wild ocean scallops and sardines. It’s important to stay away from farm raised fish. 250 mg EPA is good more than three fish meals a day, which is 2000 mg, equals a therapeutic dose this aids to an anti-inflammatory effect. This can be a substitute for ibuprofen if done consistently along with cumin/ turmeric and boswella.

As I said before the information I’m giving our snippets to keep in mind. Any blood pressure over 120/80 is too high. You can do your own research by using CNN health section or Reuter’s service, health section. PubMed has drug information. Hypoglycemic or diabetic people do better on a low-carb diet, that’s common sense. Complex carbohydrates are best. Juice is not so healthy for adults.

Your immune system is 20% active while you’re awake and 80% active while you’re asleep. The nervous system: Omega three fatty acids/fish oil or amino acids, B6, vitamin C is needed. Amino acids are also needed to digest the protein. B6 in a water-soluble vitamin but can be stored in the muscles if you take too much.

If you have white specks on your nails, this could be due to think deficiency or for women could also be calcium deficiency. Vegetarian’s need to ingest the supplement B 12, zinc, calcium and iron are needed.

Whole wheat bread equals sugar as far as insulin goes/blood sugar on the other hand real ride bread or soy bread will not raise insulin levels.

The physical forms of supplements: a young person can metabolize anything, tablets are fine but, a person with digestion problems needs capsules with liquid or powder inside, there is also liquid vitamins.  The older we get the harder it is to digest tablets so for maximum absorption again and is wise to use capsules, powder or liquid. Minerals are also hard to absorb calcium citrate is recommended.

In the society where everything is no fat, low-fat or full of bad fat is important to know how important fat is for the heart nobody needs it.  The good sources of fats are raw milk, which can be bought in Newtown, Pennsylvania at Birchwood Farms. Another source of good fat is organic coconut oil, olive oil and ghee.  Ghee is clarified butter. It is quite easy to make. It is suggested to use unsalted organic butter put in the stainless steel pot and brought to a slow boil. Then you skim off the white froth from the top and when pouring it into a ceramic container you will also find more white fat at the bottom of the pot remove that as well.  It is not necessary to refrigerate the ghee it should be covered though. These good fats will show in the texture of your skin and you’ll find these fats help with eliminating wrinkles.

It’s important to remember to eat right. I do believe multiple vitamins are important. I myself stick with a liquid vitamin because of the digestion factor for my age group 50 years old. Calcium citrate and magnesium combination this also comes in liquid form to make it easier to assimilate. It is important not to take more than 500 mg of calcium at a time. Fish oil/EFA, GLA/Borage oil/Primrose oil and Flaxseed. I myself cannot take fish oil because fish oil has a warming quality to it. I take the other three, Borage, Primrose and flaxseed. The reason I take it the other three verses fish oil is because in Ayurvedic  medicine this is practiced in India. I am dominantly Pitta for now. When you are sometimes out of balance such as this case being overly Pitta, I have excessive heat in my body so to correct that imbalance I eat more cooling foods and of course trying to keep the foods as alkaline as possible.

When I say cooling foods this means steamed apples, steamed vegetables, rice, oatmeal, blueberries, more vegetarian foods with the absence of spicy hot foods, such as onions, garlic and hot pepper. Herbs that are cooling are fennel, coriander, and turmeric. This is just some very brief information but something that you can look into on your own.

A good treatment for PMS women is to do three capsules a day of borage seed oil.

Denatured whey protein powder drinks are good way to get added protein. As far as the amount of protein goes a lot of people wonder how much protein a person needs each day. How to calculate your protein needs.    The general axiom is 1 g per pound but that is with the safety margin and is really over kill.  It’s not that extra protein is harmful, so it’s fine to shoot for that some people however dislike protein for whatever reason, will do fine taking less and not stressing out over achieving it. If you are an athlete or work out and want to build muscle 1.6 g per kilogram of body weight to convert to pounds, that is 0.73 g per pound of bodyweight to actually less than 1 pound.  So, at a higher 40 pounds you would need more than 102 g of protein. Your protein needs: 1. Weight in pounds divided by 2.2 equals weight in kilograms. 2.  Weight in kilograms x 0.08 – 1.8 gm/kg = protein gram.  Example:  154 lb. male who is a regular exerciser and lift weights 154 lbs/2.2 = 70kg. 70kg x 1.5 = 105 gm protein per day.

You could go online to find out how to achieve the goals you want as far as protein intake, the amount of calories you need pre-day to increase your muscle mass. For example I just did mine. I need 187.4 grams of carbohydrates, 49.8 grams of fat, 75 grams of protein per day for 1507.9 cal to maintain my weight of 120 pounds.  I will have to reevaluate the above when I start back at the gym Friday, February 11, 2011 after not being there since my car accident in April 2007. The reason I have put the date in the day is that it’s very difficult for someone who has been an athlete to pretty much start from scratch again. I have my mind made up and I will have to alter my workout due to my injury but I’m intent on getting back to where I was in 2007 just not with his much muscle but more core strength, cardio strength and feeling strong.

In closing I hope that you can take something from this blog that will help you in some way.

We will need to get a Massage Therapy on a regular basis. I cannot stress this enough. The pace we maintain reflects in the condition of our bodies. Whether you can wrap your mind around this or not,  we are not separate from our surroundings, we are part of all of it. Every thought that we think sends out of vibration, every action has an equal reaction. I think that once we realize and learn to look within stress can be minimized. This takes time and Massage Therapy helps you to do this.

I bring these things up because Massage Therapy for one hour out of your day, makes you lay down quietly and as the massage therapist touches each part of your body you become aware of what is going on with that body part. I cannot stress how many people are shocked at the tension  they hold in their glutes, (butt) once they become aware of this it becomes part of the conscious mind and you soon realize that sitting in a static chair that does not move with your pelvis, (part of the gluteal area) causes a great deal of tension, which turns in to tightness in the lower back area. If this area is not worked on the problem increases, then the good ole doctor gives you pills to pop or sends you to PT. This is not the answer!

We all seem to think that Massage Therapy is a frill, it is far from that. It helps you to stay healthy because, it increases circulation, relaxes the tension in your body to allow blood flow, lymph flow and your body to function at a healthy level without chronic pain. I hear people say they cannot afford Massage. I say you cannot afford not to have Massage. I make sure personally to get Massage Therapy twice a month. I cut back in other areas of my life because, my health is first on my list of priorities. What I see time and time again are people who wait until they’re in chronic pain to come to see me. That means they have to come far more often to get their bodies relaxed, pain free, injury free and back to healthy. The solution is very simple, getting a Massage at least once a month. This will prevent you from getting to this chronic stage.

I’m also amazed when people go to their doctor, the first thing the doctor does is send them to a physical therapist. They slap on your back electric stimulation, moist hot pads and have you lifting weights. Then what happens people come to me because the physical therapy did nothing. Physical Therapy does not release tight muscles, what usually happens is, you tighten up even more by lifting weights. I have had a few doctors that I know personally, who know that massage therapy, heals and relieves trigger points that are not even touched by PT’s.

I think the problem is Physical Therapists are they are threatened by Massage Therapists for what reason I do not know. We should all be working together to help people to heal. It is not a competition of egos, it is about educating people how to take care of their bodies. This is through eating properly, drinking plenty of water, exercise/yoga, meditation, walking, deep breathing, (I would like to mention, the artofliving.org, this is where you learn to meditate and breathe stress away and I hold this in highest regard and rate on a scale of 1 to 10 definitely a 10. It is somewhat a miracle) There are Art of Living courses all over the Princeton area and surrounding areas.

I stress again if you were going to cut something out of your life it should not be massage therapy. Book an appointment today at 609-683-1608 or e-mail me at SuzanneNewmancmt@gmail.com remember without your health you have nothing. Also remember you get what you pay for! The average Massage Therapy Session is 85.00. You can get one for less and you get less, it is all up to you. It is you body and your health, please care about it!
